My Skincare Routine

As I haven't blogged for the whole of summer I thought I'd do a post on my skincare routine. I suffered with AWFUL skin for years but as cliche as it sounds just like looking after your skin and finding products that work for you it can really make a difference as I barely get breakouts now (apart from the odd hormonal issue...being a woman can be the worst!)

In the morning I like to try and be as quick as possible I use the Clarins one step water cleanser on a cotton pad and wipe this all over my face, it dries quickly and doesn't contain any alcohol so it won't dry out your skin either! Next up I use my ultimate holy grail toner the Clarins Toning Lotion for combination/oily skin. I just couldn't live without it and it contains witch hazel and aloe which are both amazing products for problem skin.

To moisturise I use the Clarins Hydra Matte Lotion, as my skin can get oily throughout the day it mattifies my skin and gives me just the right amount of hydration.

As an eye cream I change between Clinique and Benefit I don't use one everyday but find my eyes can get quite dry on the outer corners so these both brighten and soothe that area.
At night I use the Clarins Instant eye makeup remover, this is bi facial so you need to shake it to activate it. This is amazing and even removes waterproof mascara but can also leave an oily residue so after removing eye makeup I will go over and use the Garnier Micellar water to remove the most of my makeup.
Then when I shower I will exfoliate 3/4 times a week with st ives apricot scrub, Clarins Gentle Refiner Exfoliating Cream or Paulas choice 2% BHA liquid. To cleanse in the evenings I like to use something a bit stronger to make sure my skin is free from all make up I use the Clarins Pure Melt cleansing gel followed by the same toner and moisturisers.

As you probably can tell by now I am a total clarins junkie, I'd definitely like to try some new skincare choices though, what do you swear by, let me know in the comments below!

NYX Butter Gloss Review

Ever since Ciaooobellllaxo mentioned these in a few of her videos last year I have been searching high and low for these EVERYWHERE. Question, why is NYX so difficult to get hold of in the UK do you know of any stockists?

Luckily I knew that when IMATS came around there would be a NYX stand and guess where the first place was where me and my two friends headed! From all the stalls it was most definitely the best laid out with a proper queue system so you could get a good look at all the products on offer.

Anyway on to the shades I picked up, they are very similar but I wanted to get a couple I knew I'd get the wear from!

Vanilla Cream Pie

I love the non sticky finish of these lip butters and they really do last for quite a while! I like how you can just put them on when your in a rush quickly and you can be good to go. They are a gorgeous creamy consistency too.

bareMinerals Faux Tan Face Review

bare minerals faux tan face, review, fake tan, bare minerals

As the palest person on planet Earth I'm not even going to lie....I just love fake tan! Saying that over the last two months thanks to two sunny holidays I've taken a backseat from my usual tanning routine but with Autumn approaching I'm sure I'll be back to normal soon ;)

One of the things I hate about tanning is putting body tan on your face...I've had such bad experiences of it completing blocking my pores and wrecking my skin so I stopped tanning my face at all and would rely or darker foundation and a load of bronzer but you can guess what that looks like on no make up days... (pale face, dark neck - Sounds like an Ed Sheeran song!)

So I was on the lookout for a face tanner that was not going to wreck havoc on my skin and came across the bare minerals faux tan face lotion. Now before this I had never tried any products from bare minerals but knew a little about the brand and how they are quite aware of any bad chemicals that are not good for your skin thanks to their range of mineral makeup.

To use this it's best to apply on an exfoliated and moisturised face for best results. I find it's best to apply at night so it can develop overnight and in the morning you can then wash off the guide colour and have a beautiful tanned face in the morning! It doesn't give a shocking colour and you can apply more layers if you want to build up your colour. I also like how you don't need any fancy sponges to apply, you can apply it evenly to your face with your fingers (making sure to go down your neck too for the ultimate blended look!) not forgetting to wash your hands after.

Now for the biggest part, did it affect my skin in anyway?
Thankfully there was no change in the condition of my skin, obviously everyone is different but it didn't cause any breakouts for me and I have been using it on/off for the last few months! The only downside I would say is that when I bought the product the lady at the counter said that it would last the whole week but I found that it lasts me about 2/3days, but I think thats due to cleansing/toning!
Overall this product is something I plan to get a lot of use out of and would definateley repurchase.

Have you ever used anything from bare minerals? What are your favourites?

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette

Urban decay naked smoky palette, eyeshadow, naked palette, swatches, review

urban decay naked smoky palette, eyeshadow, swatches, review

Isn't it so beautiful! I feel like every girl and their best friend has this palette in the moment, I was expecting it to sell out instantly so panicked when I was on holiday and it was released but my luck was in as I ordered it the second I got home.

I'm sure that if your reading this you aren't new to the famous naked palettes and probably own a few yourself. The colours in the palette are great for dramatic or night out looks which is perfect for the upcoming do I even say it? Christmas season!

As usual with Urban Decay the pigmentation is great and as always I'd recommend to use an eye primer with it (Eden by UD is my fave!)

I'm not going to write too much more on this post as the whole beauty world is going mad for this palette at the moment but if you are thinking of getting this I wouldn't delay :)

My Favourite Perfumes ♡

Over the last year I have built up quite a large perfume collection and have found many scents that I love along the way! My favourite thing about perfume is that the certain scent can bring you back to certain places, who you were with and what you were doing when you wore it.

For me personally Britney Spears Fantasy and Taylor Swift Wonderstruck have the best memories for me! Now I'm a bit older I prefer more heavy/musky fragrances but I'm still partial to a Taylor Swift fragrance (Obviously)!

Estee Lauder Modern Muse

I believe that this is still quite a new fragrance from the brand and was just released at Christmas 2014. I received a sample in a gift set and wore it all through winter and had to have the full bottle! It's very difficult to describe a scent in a blog post so I've found this description online; 'An alluring contrast of sparkling florals and sleek, sensual woods.' Take it from me - It smells amazing (and the bottle is cute too!)

Michael Kors 'Michael' & 'Sexy Amber'

Michael is a bottle I picked up before going on holiday last year in the airport which is my favourite thing to do as one smell of this an I'm transported to a beach! This is described as 'gorgeous floral with sensuous spices, Freesia, Turkish Rose, Orange Flower, White Peony, dried fig and exotic Moroccan incense.' I was bought Sexy Amber on my birthday never having smelt it before, it's very similar to Michael but I love how much lighter it is and it's my go to everyday scent at the moment! 'sumptuous amber wrapped in sandalwood and musk, against a bright backdrop of dazzling orange, mandarin and white florals'.

Taylor Swift 'Made of Starlight'

And finally it wouldn't be right if I didn't have a Taylor Swift perfume in here. This one is called 'Made of Starlight' and is the most floral of the perfumes I have. 'a beautiful blend of crisp fruits and soft florals, kissed by tender woods. This truly memorable scent is inviting, fresh and feminine, and encapsulates all of Taylor’s favourite things.' It's the most grown up of all her scents I think but I always have it in my bag to spritz on when I need a pick me up as it's such a lovely fragrance!

What are your favourite perfumes?

Dior Star Foundation Review

dior star foundation review

Being the first Dior product I have tried I had high hopes for this foundation but I'm completely sure it delivered. With many of my friends having mixed reviews on this foundation I wanted to try it out for myself to see what the fuss was about.
The colour match is perfect, I chose the lightest shade available and it's not too orangey at all which I was a bit nervous about ordering online but ended up lucky! (The temptalia foundation matrix is amazing for finding your shade)

This foundation's selling point is that it is illuminating and brightening and I can totally agree with that, it looking extremely natural and feels lovely and light on your skin which is something to think about now we're suddenly into spring and the weather is getting warmer. My main concern with this foundation is the ability for it to go cakey throughout the day on dry & oily skin no matter what type of primer you use so I certainly would not recommend it for a nightout or long-use. No matter how I apply this, with a sponge, brushes, my fingers I just can't seem to get it to sit right on my skin. Saying that if you are looking for a light/medium weight foundation for perhaps a holiday, I'd say go for it. I'm willing to give this foundation a second chance as we go into June/July but for now I'm just not warming to it.

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?

New MAC Lipstick Collection Summer 2015

I was having a look on the temptalia website and saw that there is a new MAC collection launching in summer introducing the topselling lipliner 'Whirl' as a lipstick which I am so excited about!
They are a range of exsisting matte shades and new ones but I'm really excited as matte shades can be so versitile and tend to last longer than the other mac formulations I find.

TIP: If you don't like matte formulas or find them drying then add a clear lipgloss over the top for a different effect - Also, Lush's bubblegum lip scrub works wonders!

What shades are you most excited about? I'm looking forward to 'Whirl' and 'Men Love Mystery'

An Update!

Hello there, it's been a while since I last posted anything to this blog but I've finally qualified as a make up artist so I'll have much more time to blog :) There's so much skincare and make up I have been excited about recently and really would like to post more. Also thank you so much for 80 bloglovin followers, it means alot!

Maybelline 24 hour Colour Tattoo's

It has been a very long time since I last posted a review on here and I'd really like to start dedicating more time to blogging as I think I'm driving my family, friends & boyfriend insane with my constant makeup and beauty chatter!

Since I delved into the world of premium make up when I started earning more I haven't really looked back but I went to peruse the aisles of Superdrug on a work lunch break recently and managed to pick up a few items that I had seen good reviews of. I have always been a fan of the MAC paintpots...I'm not actually sure if they are still called that but they were always used as eyeshadow based a few years ago by many youtubers. Mine rarely get much love now which is something I would like to change but I decided to pick up some of the highly popular Maybelline Colour Tattoo's.

These are probably best described as a cream eyeshadow that dries to a powder. They are a lovely consistency and are easy to apply if you are in a rush to get ready with one quick swipe of the finger!
I picked up two shades (I need to go back and get the gold one for sure!) Timeless Black and Pink Gold. Pink gold has got the most use so far it's brilliant for everyday and a lovely champagne colour. I tend to use it as an all over colour then use some shades from the trusty Naked 2 palette in my crease and at the inner/outer corners for more definition. I'm waiting for a night out to get some more use from the black shade but these are very long lasting and at only £4.99 are a complete steal!

Have you tried these before? What's your verdict?

Make-Up Revolution Ultimate Colour Chaos Palette

makeup revolution, urban decay, electric, eyeshadow

When it comes to eyeshadow palettes I am strictly a neautrals girl, but with the new year and Spring/Summer approaching I want to be more confident and play around with some brighter shades.
Inspired by some of my favourite Urban Decay make-up artists with colour I wanted a palette that was bright and bold, but with the UD electric palette being £40 I wasn't sure if I wanted to commit to it just yet I bought this dupe from Makeup Revolution.

So far I am loving the brighter shades and trying to make them wearable enough for everyday. The mix of matte and shimmer shades compliment eachother so well and I've been loving mixing up a brown/black smokey eye with a little bit of colour. If I'm lucky enough to go away anywhere this summer I will definateley be taking this palette with me as the neon pinks and greens will look lovely with a bit of a tan!
So far I'm really impressed with the pigment and staying power of these shadows and will definateley be having a look at other Makeup Revolution products in the future :)

Clarins Hydra Matte Rebalancing Lotion Review

clarins, ultra matte, lotion, review, skincare

Been a while since I last had time to put up a post. This one is going to be again about one of my favourite current skincare brands Clarins. After getting into my new skincare routine with my Clarins products in my previous post a moisturiser was missing! I have extreme combination skin and was on the hunt for a moisturiser to help with that.
After asking my friend for her advice she recommended me this product to try and so far I love it.
Rather than being a full on greasy moisturiser it's a light lotion which glides on the skin and is perfect for oilier complexions. It settles in quickly allowing you to apply your makeup on top quickly which is good if you're in a rush in the mornings! I also like that it's ultra-matte meaning it won't make you shiny by midday and almost acts as an alternative to a primer.
The only bad thing I'd say is that it does come out of the bottle extremely quickly so you have to be aware of that but it smells gorgeous and I'm looking forward to seeing some results in a few weeks!
I was kindly given this salon size version by my friend but you can also purchase from Clarins counters for £26 it comes in versions for every skin type :)

Clarins Skincare Haul

With some leftover Christmas money I was on the lookout for some products I could use properly in my skincare routine. It's one of my new years resolutions to stick to looking after my skin a bit more as it has suffered in previous years just due to me being lazy!
Even though I have been stuck in my Liz Earle cleanse & polish ways for about two years now I have always wanted to try Clarins so decided to purchase a few products from them. My friend who works for the brand gave me a few recommendations so I decided to start with the One-Step facial cleanser and Toning lotion (I purchased these both from with a discount code!). As far as first impressions go (I've only been using these for little under a week) I LOVE the toning lotion it smells amazing and I feel like it really prepares my skin for moisturiser! The facial cleanser is so simple to use (you have to shake the bottle) the only downside is that it does leave your skin feeling a bit oily but the toner sorts that out. My favourite thing is that they are both alcohol free which if you are into skincare you will know that alcohol is horrible and drying for your skin.

A few days after telling my friend I bought my first Clarins products she let me know about a giftset for £22 where you could get two full size products (cleanser & toners are usually £25 each) plus a makeup bag & eye makeup remover, so I decided to pick one of them up too so I could have extra stock of the toner. The cleanser it comes with is a milk formula which I haven't had the chance to try yet but am looking forward to seeing the difference and finding out what I prefer. I was also given a few samples of some other products to try!
Hopefully in the new few weeks I'll write an updated post of how I'm getting on with these products and be able to write a proper review :)

Hello 2015

Inspired by a lot of posts I've read over the last few days these are my so called new years resolutions or things I'd like to achieve by next year!

  • Read more - I am never going to be a 5000 page novel kind of girl but even if it's a true life story or fact book it's better than sitting on my laptop right?
  • Do more makeup - I'd love to start getting paid for freelance work, I need to be qualified first before I consider it but I want to get myself onto a good start!
  • Go on holiday somewhere hot - I feel like in the winter my vitamin D levels drop quite a lot and I'm quite prone to feeling down in the winter months so topping up on some sunshine when I can is definitely needed!
  • Start doing some yoga!
  • Complete a special course in Bridal Makeup
